Anaïs Horn
Anaïs Horn, born in Graz, Austria, currently lives and works in Paris, France. Horn’s practice creates intimate, often site-specific settings in which highly personal narratives —may they be autobiographical, explore female coming-of-age and rites of passage or reflect on the biographies of historical (female) figures— evolve into general reflections on contemporary life and how memories and (her)story/stories reverberate in objects and spaces.
Her work intertwines photography, moving images and sound, text, drawing and painting with the aim of being poetic and precise at the same time. Her images take shape by exploring surfaces and objects, and they frequently unfold into spatial installations and artist‘s books. Next to personal narratives she is introducing elements of illusion and mystery, trying to situate her work in a space of the in-between.
With a background in literature and design, Anaïs Horn graduated from Friedl Kubelka School for Fine Art Photography, Vienna, in 2015. She has been awarded several scholarships and residencies, such as the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2017–2018 and 2021) or the ISCP New York City (2020, 2022). She has exhibited her work at Camera Austria, Graz; Paris Photo, Curiosa Section, Paris; MAK-Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna; Neue Galerie, Graz, among others.

Anaïs Horn, nata a Graz, in Austria, attualmente vive e lavora a Parigi, in Francia. La pratica di Horn crea ambienti intimi, spesso site-specific, in cui narrazioni altamente personali - siano esse autobiografiche, esplorino il coming-of-age femminile e i riti di passaggio o riflettano sulle biografie di figure storiche (femminili) - si evolvono in riflessioni generali sulla vita contemporanea e sul modo in cui i ricordi e le (sue) storie/storie si riverberano negli oggetti e negli spazi.
Il suo lavoro intreccia fotografia, immagini in movimento e suono, testo, disegno e pittura con l'obiettivo di essere poetico e preciso allo stesso tempo. Le sue immagini prendono forma esplorando superfici e oggetti e spesso si trasformano in installazioni spaziali e libri d'artista. Accanto alle narrazioni personali introduce elementi di illusione e mistero, cercando di collocare il suo lavoro in uno spazio intermedio.
Con un background in letteratura e design, Anaïs Horn si è diplomata alla Friedl Kubelka School for Fine Art Photography di Vienna nel 2015. Ha ottenuto diverse borse di studio e residenze, come la Cité Internationale des Arts di Parigi (2017-2018 e 2021) o l'ISCP di New York (2020, 2022). Ha esposto il suo lavoro presso Camera Austria, Graz; Paris Photo, sezione Curiosa, Parigi; MAK-Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna; Neue Galerie, Graz, tra le altre.
