HAZUKI KATAGAI

Hazuki Katagai (born in Japan) is a conceptual artist. Many of her works are functional or wearable, each of which has a specific purpose, and are expressed in the form of devices, accessories or tools which can be actually used by people. By means of the functionality, her works build a relationship with others or this world, focusing on bringing up a new aspect of the real world. She makes her works for finding out "what the world is" and "what we are", believing in the possibility of power of our imagination. Katagai has received several awards, such as Tokyo Midtown Award (2022), The Jury Selections of The 19th Japan Media Arts Festival (2015), Tokyo Wonder Wall Award (2015), The Juries Award of Tokyo Wonder Wall Award (2015). She has received scholarships and artist-in-residences/studios, such as Mistubayasi-Ryotaro Scholarship by Musashino Art University (Tokyo), Swatch Art Peace Hotel (Shanghai), Kyoto Art Center (Kyoto).
Her works has been exhibited internationally including Tokyo Wonder Wall, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (Tokyo), Japan Media Arts Festival, The National Art Center Tokyo (Tokyo), Cairotronica, Cairo International Electronic and New Media arts Symposium (Cairo), Japan Media Arts Festival in SAPPORO (Sapporo), The Little Inventors Exhibition, Yang Museum (Beijing), International Talent Support (Trieste), The Railway Art Festival (Osaka), Arte Laguna Prize (Venezia), Art Verona (Verona), Street Museum (Tokyo), The First Exhibition, ITS Arcademy Museum of Art in Fashion (Trieste), Roppongi Art Night (Tokyo).

Hazuki Katagai (nata in Giappone) è un'artista concettuale. Molte delle sue opere sono funzionali o indossabili, ognuna delle quali ha uno scopo specifico e si esprime sotto forma di dispositivi, accessori o strumenti che possono essere effettivamente utilizzati dalle persone. Attraverso la funzionalità, le sue opere costruiscono una relazione con gli altri o con questo mondo, concentrandosi su un nuovo aspetto del mondo reale. Realizza le sue opere per scoprire "cosa è il mondo" e "cosa siamo noi", credendo nella possibilità del potere della nostra immaginazione. Katagai ha ricevuto diversi premi, come il Tokyo Midtown Award (2022), le selezioni della giuria del 19° Japan Media Arts Festival (2015), il Tokyo Wonder Wall Award (2015), il premio della giuria del Tokyo Wonder Wall Award (2015).
