Parallel Vienna 2021: Camilla Alberti
Parallel Vienna 2021: Camilla Alberti
From September 7th to September 12th, MLZ Art Dep will be at Parallel Vienna 2021. The fair takes place for the ninth time in Vienna, using temporarily vacant buildings as a presentation platform for the most recent contemporary art.
MLZ Art Dep will present a solo show by Camilla Alberti (Milano 1994). Her practice reflects on the concept of building worlds, on the roles and relationships that each inhabitant (human and non-human) defines with his being in the world.
She collects abandoned objects, industrial waste, and organic fragments in a process of urban archaeology. She investigates ruins as active and metamorphic spaces and creates hybrid spaces in which materials dialogue with each other in decentralized structures inspired by plant interconnections and fungal reticles.
Through sculpture, painting, and installation she builds micro-worlds based on hybridization and inter-species collaboration. Her current work focuses on imaginaries and narrative methods that can modify the human being in the world. She rethinks bodies as spaces and transforms them into multiple, hybrid, and monstrous organisms.
